“Erase the false impressions from your mind by constantly saying to yourself, I have it in my soul to keep out any evil, desire or any kind of disturbance — instead, seeing the true nature of things, I will give them only their due. Always remember this power that nature gave you.” — Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 8.29

I find it difficult to write something today. Too many thoughts are racing through my mind right now about different things — both personal and professional. And that is how life goes. Too many distractions every day. Different things pulling us in different directions every day. Perhaps that is why it is important to have a guiding philosophy in our life. It can be anything, whatever is important to you. But it has to be your own. And it has to be concrete. One such philosophy is given by Marcus Aurelius himself — I have my thoughts and my actions in my control and that control gives me power over my life.

This article is a part of my Stoic Musings challenge, inspired by the book “The Daily Stoic” by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman, where I take a quote from the book and reflect on it, every day for 366 days. This challenge is an experiment about self-improvement & consistency. You can find the challenge archive on my website(Link in my profile).
